As Nick struggles with his memory loss, he and Phyllis begin to rebuild their relationship.
Phyllis is understanding when Nick asks her to let him and Sharon plan their "Cassie's Challenge" benefit without her. That evening, however, Phyllis makes a play for her hubby. "Nick decides to move back in and she asks, 'Where do you want to sleep?' " explains Michelle Stafford. "He says he wants to sleep on the couch. That prompts her to use her womanly wiles and come downstairs and take off her robe. It's vintage Phyllis."
He responds, but the moment doesn't last long. "She just takes him right there and they kiss," she shares. "I think the audience will go, 'Oh, good, they're back to who they are.' But then he stops and says it can't go any further."
Phyllis isn't trying to manipulate him, says Stafford. "It's really deeper than that," the actress states. "She thought her husband was dead, so she's just happy to be close to him and feel his body on hers. That's enough. Even though he's lost his memory, he cares for her."
Nick agrees to be present for Phyllis's extortion trial. But later at Crimson Lights, she finds Nick and Sharon flirting. "She's so disturbed that her husband is blatantly going after another woman in front of her," sighs Stafford. "He's not even sneaking around. So Phyllis confronts Sharon and says, 'You're flirting with my man and I don't like it, so knock it off.' Sharon is like, 'Hey, too bad, sister.' And then Sharon really starts flirting with Nick, and he touches her hair."
Phyllis is even more hurt when Nick again chooses Sharon over her - but Phyllis has a surprising and steamy daydream of her own.
