October 2, 2007 CBS Soaps In Depth Temporarily Acting Out Eyal Podell (Adrian) caught the acting bug in high school, but when he went to Dartmouth he decided to test just how committed he was to the profession by not pursuing it. "I didn't act for two semesters," he reveals. "I didn't take a class. I didn't do plays as I had done all through high school." The result? The intellectual actor says that he felt very unsatisfied. "My grades suffered. Of course, I also went to [college] in New Hampshire where there is three hours of sunlight and I became reclusive and stuck in my dorm room, so maybe you can blame it on that," he jokes. "But I did feel as though something was missing, an experience in my daily life." After the semesters were over, Podell did a 13-week exchange program in England and Connecticut where he trained in classical theater. "They billed it as a boot camp for the arts, where at the end of it they'd tell you point-blank if they thought you had a chance to succeed [as an actor]." The answer was positive enough for Podell to toss aside any reluctance he had regarding his interest in the dramatic arts. "I went back to college, dove right in and finished the rest of my drama major."
