Genoa City's dream project becomes a nightmare this week when the Clear Springs garage collapses on Y&R.
"This is a physical, action-packed story," promises Peter Bergman. "Much bigger than we're used to [at Y&R]. An explosion rocks everyone and it's pretty scary."
With the Clear Springs power players ramping up for their big openings, the catastrophe leaves many fighting for survival. "Jack finds himself trapped with Nicholas and Sharon," Bergman relates. "It's very precarious. Jack wants to get out alive--with Sharon."
That's just what her ex, Nick, wants, too. "You've got two guys trying to look out for Sharon," Bergman sighs. "One thinks they should go one way, the other is pointing the other way. There's definitely tension."
And it only gets worse. "They come to a point where escape cannot include all three off them," Bergman says. "People have to come to terms with a lot before leaving someone behind. These major events bring relationships under the microscope. Suddenly, people have to deal with what's going on, and that's what happens here."
And this trio isn't the only group facing drastic choices. Several other familiar faces are in peril at Clear Springs. "Each group believes they're the only ones stuck," explains Bergman. "They're isolated and totally unaware of anything else going on."
But with Victor, Nikki and Michael aboveground, rescue efforts get under way quickly. High-tech equipment is procured, and Kevin works on a Web site to track the survivors. "Everyone's freaked out," Bergman shudders. "Men, women and children they care a lot about are stuck."
And it's survival of the fittest. "Someone does not come out of this the way we hope they will," warns Bergman
