March 3, 2008 CBS Soaps In Depth Family Support Most parents would be a little leery if their daughter told them that they've decided to pursue a career in show business. And Vail Bloom (Heather, Y&R) says that her parents were no exception. "Well, they put me through Princeton, which is an expensive place for education," she confesses. "I think they expected me to go into architecture or something more traditional." Yet to their credit, she says that when she told them that she planned to head for Hollywood, they didn't try to dissuade her. "I think they were silently skeptical, but they would never want to get in the way of my dreams, so they were supportive." Bloom suspects her folks probably expected her to pound the pavement in Tinsel Town for about a year before returning home to a more conventional career. "When they saw me begin to book jobs, they began to get excited and happy that I was making it work for me, and there was a potential future, career-wise," she smiles. "It's not easy to talk about this industry when they're not in it. My parents might not understand it, but they're always supportive."
