We like the way Y&R is taking its time exploring the relationship between Paul and daughter Heather. He stayed away for most of her life, then finally confessed their connection. Instead of having an all-is-forgiven reunion, Heather is making Dad really work.
Years ago, Paul capitulated to his ex-wife, April, to stay away from their daughter for her own good, but that's not the way Heather sees it. She ended up with an abusive stepfather. So, of course she's resentful toward the absentee guy who was nothing more than a sperm donor.
Here and there, overtures are made, but with every step forward, some misunderstanding has them taking two leaps back. At times, we see glimpses of vulnerability in the career-driven Heather, while Paul adopted a let-her-come-to-me attitude. But just one suggestion: Get Rebecca Staab back as April to give his current squeeze, Maggie, a run for her money!
