June 23, 2008 CBS Soaps In DepthWorld Travelers Anyone who has traveled extensively has probably encountered someone from Down Under on their journey. "Most Australians travel around the world at some point in their lives," says Daniel Goddard (Cane). "You can go to the most obscure places, and you'll find Australians. It's like, 'What are you doing here?' " The hunk attributes the wanderlust of his fellow Aussies to the country's far-flung geographic distance. "A lot of people travel for quite a while because it's so far from everywhere else in the world, so if you're going to fly to Spain, you might as well take a couple of months off and travel all around Europe." Southeast Asia is another area one might run into a lot of Australians, which Goddard says is more because of the price than the distance. "It's cheaper to go to Bali or Indonesia for Australians than to go to an Australian resort," he explains. "Australian resorts cater to tourists--American, Japanese, German--so they tend to be very expensive. So basically Australians go somewhere else!"
