In a super hush-hush deal, Emmy-winning soap vet Heather Tom (ex-Kelly, OLTL; ex-Victoria, Y&R) is joining The Bold and the Beautiful. She started work on July 18 and has inked a six-month contract. "She's an awesome actress and B&B is very excited about getting her," reports an insider.
Information about her first air date or character name were unavailable at press time. However, since a casting call previously went out for Brooke's youngest sister, Katie (played off and on since 1987 by Nancy Sloan), insiders say she will be assuming that role. "She's definitely playing Katie," says a source. "Her first scenes are with her sisters, Brooke and Donna."
Hiring Tom at B&B seems to be another step in Executive Producer/Head Writer Bradley Bell's push to snap up talent discarded by sister show Y&R. In 2007 alone, Eileen Davidson (Ashley) and Lauralee Bell (Christine) crossed over from Y&R — though the latter was for a brief stint — and former Head Writer Kay Alden is now writing for B&B.
