September 15, 2008 CBS Soaps In Depth Dream Weaver Y&R's sister soap, B&B, may have Joshua Morrow (Nick) to thank for the recent cast addition of Texas Battle (Marcus). Morrow knew Battle from the basketball courts, and when the B&B role came up, the young actor approached him about it. "He cornered me at a basketball game and kind of said, 'What's up with daytime? I've always done other things,' " Morrow recounts, noting that he gave him the pros and cons of the soap world. "I didn't lie--I told him that it's not for everyone, but if you're looking for a way to establish a lifestyle that suits the family life, it's great. They could get rid of him, [and] a three-year deal doesn't mean anything because basically you've signed a 13-week contract, and they'll decide if they'll pick it up. But I told him it's a great job. I have the best job in the world. I'll put it up against anybody else's and I'll win. Period." When Battle auditioned, Morrow was on hand to offer encouragement. "He absolutely killed it," he raves. "I said, 'Buddy, you are a good actor, and it doesn't matter if you're on a soap or not. But if they offer you the job, take it immediately. It's a great life. I'm living the dream, and you can too.'
