LCF Tournament of Roses Association’s annual fundraising gala “An Evening of Wine and Roses,” featuring the premier appearance of the 2009 Rose Queen and her Royal Court, will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club.
Chaired by Sharon Boettcher, the emcee for the event will be actor Michael Gross, who received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and his master of fine arts from the School of Drama at Yale University. Gross has appeared in a variety of star-studded films, stage plays and a variety of TV programs, but is perhaps best known for his portrayal of father Steven Keaton in the long-running sitcom “Family Ties.” Currently he plays the role of River Baldwin in the daytime drama “The Young and the Restless.”
Gross is also the recipient of the American Hero Award for his many charitable activities.
Mary Gant, LCFTRA president, says, “This is our major fundraiser for the year, and we are thrilled to have the honor of introducing the Rose Queen and her Royal Court and to have Michael Gross as our emcee. We encourage the local community to join us and meet them and at the same time provide needed financial support for our 31st consecutive Rose Parade float.”
Invitations have been mailed to Association members, and for others who would like to attend, just call Claire Slaughter at (818) 790-0560 to reserve, and send her a check for $85 per person, payable to LCFTRA, before Oct. 24. The price includes complimentary valet parking, no-host bar, appetizers, a delicious dinner and a chance to win the Opportunity Drawing for $1,000.
