Gloria is finally busted Friday on "The Young and the Restless" for tainting the Jabot face cream.
"She gets a call from Jeffrey saying, 'I'm in the hospital,'" says Judith Chapman, who plays the scheming Gloria. "She runs to the hospital and sees this massive smirk on his face. He says, 'Doctor, I used my wife's face cream.'"
Viewers know Gloria poisoned that face cream years ago to frame her stepson Jack and oust him from his dead father's company, Jabot. Her actions resulted in the death of a young woman - and Gloria's husband, Jeffrey, has been blackmailing her with the offending jar ever since.
"The doctor takes the cream for testing," says Chapman. "She says, 'What are you doing?' Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. 'What do you mean, honey?' He gets her to confess by making her think they are playing a game."
Gloria lists all her nefarious machinations (purring, "I've been a bad, bad girl") but then gets suspicious.
"She says, 'Where's the tape? Where's the wire?' She pulls the covers back but nothing is there. She thinks she's off the hook when, the [hospital] curtains pull back and out step the cops. Jeffrey says, 'Did you get all that?'"
Gloria is taken to jail in handcuffs.
"Michael is nowhere to be found, but Kevin shows up," says Chapman, referring to Gloria's sons.
"She is charged with product tampering and possible manslaughter."
Michael turns up next week and tries to help Gloria, since Jeffrey turned her in only to punish her for testifying on behalf of Michael's father, River. Meanwhile, Jeffrey reveals to Jack that Gloria is the one who framed him.
"Jack comes to the jailhouse," says Chapman. "Jack dumps on her for everything. Gloria is a puddle: 'I loved John. I didn't mean to [kill anyone].'"
Busted and alone, Gloria can look forward only to coal in her stocking this year.
"The holidays will not be cheery," says Chapman. "No makeup, no hair, bad food, bad company and a bright orange jumpsuit. And no family!"
No hope for release? "No," says Chapman. "The spirit of Christmas Past has come back to haunt her."
