The 5,810 members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have spoken and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button appears to be their favorite film of the year, based on its 13 nominations. That wasn't a huge surprise although most people assumed it would be Slumdog Millionaire collecting the lion's share of nominations (it earned 10). But Robert Downey Jr getting a nod for his work in Tropic Thunder and Kate Winslet getting a nomination in the Best Actress category for The Reader and not Revolutionary Road definitely were shockers. And the biggest snub...Academy members didn't nominate The Dark Knight for Best Picture.
Sexiest Man Alive Hugh Jackman will host the 81st Academy Awards on Sunday, February 22, 2009.
