DAMIAN STAGES COMEBACK: Actor/singer Michael Damian returns to a Billboard airplay chart after a 17-year absence, as "Rock On (2009)" bows at No. 30 on Adult Contemporary.
The former Danny Romalotti on the CBS daytime drama "The Young and the Restless" charted three Adult Contemporary hits from 1989 to 1992, although his original recording of "Rock On" was not among that trio. He last visited the list dated May 2, 1992, when "(There'll Never Be) Another You" spent its final week on the tally.
Damian's first cover of David Essex's "Rock On" peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated June 3, 1989. Essex's original rose to No. 5 on the March 9, 1974, Hot 100.
This year has proven fruitful at Adult Contemporary for songs that topped the Hot 100 20 years ago. In addition to Damian's new title, Seal bullets at No. 9 with "If You Don't Know Me By Now," which Simply Red took to the Hot 100 summit on July 15, 1989.
