Two stories explode this week on Y&R. First, Nina is stunned when Phillip III's casket is filled with sandbags. Realizing that Phillip could be Jill's son after all, she demands that Cane take another DNA test. She accuses Ashby of being an impostor and believes that he managed to manipulate the details of the baby switch in Katherine's memory. "Cane's whole story is falling apart," acknowledges Tricia Cast (Nina). "He thinks that Nina is being emotional and protective."
Still, Cane readily agrees to take the test, which surprises Nina and Jill. Lily tells her husband that she'll love him regardless of the results. Alone, however, Cane calls Philip and assures him that he's handling the situation in Genoa City so that he can quit running. Then Cane takes extreme measures in order to prove his identity.
Meanwhile, Adam--who was nearly busted by Victor and Ashley in the act of gaslighting Ashley when his recording of Sabrina got stuck--is thrown for a loop when one of his other schemes backfires.
Adam believes he's in the clear when Estella is arrested for harassing Ashley. Meantime, a relieved Ashley (who's had it in for Estella since the beginning) is pleased when Dr. Taylor (who Adam's been blackmailing) continues to lie that her baby is doing well. "I trust [Head Writer] Maria [Arena Bell]," says Eileen Davidson (Ashley) of the gaslighting tale. "The only thing I can do at this point is hope for the best. Ashley is really strong, so I'm walking a very thin line of playing the story as it's written, but also trying to keep Ashley's integrity intact."
On the other hand, Adam's integrity is again challenged when Victor's friend, Dr. Donahue, realizes that he has been injecting something into his eyes. Adam then gets even more bad news when he learns that his eyesight could be damaged for real. Later, Victor suspects that another person is behind the tormenting of Ashley; however, a suspicious Rafe is determined to prove his aunt's innocence and demands to search Adam's room for incriminating evidence.
Just how far will Adam go to stop him?
