Beverly Hills resident Kate Linder, who portrays Esther Valentine on “The Young and the Restless,” as well as well-known in Beverly Hills and the surrounding region for her tireless charitable work on behalf of the homeless, battered women and abused children, joined a star studded group to honor Broadway’s Rachel York at the Cabaret of the Castle event at Magic Castle in Hollywood on Monday, July 27.
Miss York is well-known for roles in the Broadway productions of “Les Miserables,” “Victor/Victoria,” “Kiss Me Kate” and "Camelot," to name just a few of her stage productions. Her television credits include the biopic “Lucy,” which was about the legendary actress Lucille Ball.
Kate Linder, who can sometimes be seen as a flight attendant, canceled plans that she’d previously had in order to be on hand to honor one of the greats of stage and television, Miss York. Linder tells Canyon News exclusively, “It was a terrific evening with Rachel York and friends. Rachel took us on a journey from Broadway to Burt Bacharach. It was a magical performance at the historic Magic Castle. I want to be like her when I grow up."
Linder was also accompanied by many of Hollywood’s greats such as Tippi Hedren, who starred in “The Birds,” Betty Garrett, “Desperate Housewives” creator, Marc Cherry and Roland Kickinger of “Terminator Salvation,” “Conan” and “See Arnold Run.”
Miss York regaled her guests and the audience with stories and songs from her Broadway work. The audience seemed fixated on the legendary actress. Linder adds, “It was a wonderful evening and I’m happy to be able to be a part of it.”
