In a bid to stop DVR fast-forwarding through ads, Marc Cherry, the creator and showrunner of “Desperate Housewives,” has been enlisted to make Sprint commercials in the form of an eight-episode soap opera that will run during selected commercial breaks of the Sunday night series.
The 35-second spots will air once a week. The shows’ stars won’t appear but the stars of the ads will cross over onto the “Housewives” set as "background extras," Cherry says.
