Conan O’Brien released a letter to the “People of the Earth” in which he says he won’t host “The Tonight Show” if NBC moves it to 12:05 a.m., because it would “seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting,”.
In the statement, O’Brien also expressed disappointment that he was never given a chance to build an audience at 11:35 p.m. He said he has no offer from another network and has “no idea what happens next.”
NBC said Monday that it is pulling “The Jay Leno Show” from primetime in February and wants to move it 11:35 p.m., pushing back O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” by a half-hour.
