June 12, 2007 CBS Soaps In Depth Citizen Of The World By the time he was 5 years old, Eyal Podell (Adrian) had lived in three countries (Israel, the United States, and Hong Kong) and had developed a deep appreciation for other cultures. "One of the benefits of being an ex-pat, at least back then, was your company would... provide you a travel fare to see your family in the United States," he shares. "My parents said, 'Screw that! We're over here, let's travel.' So they took my sister and I on these amazing trips in parts of the world that are so difficult to reach." Podell's childhood experiences include seeing the rice paddy fields in the Philippines, holding boa constrictors and pythons in Bangkok, riding elephants in India and standing on the equator in Kenya. "All these things when I was a little kid really affected me, one, as vivid memories, and two, being exposed to different cultures," says the brainy hunk. "It really gives you a different perspective, and makes you realize how lucky we are to live where we live and be provided with the benefits and quality of life that we have. And at the same time, to know there is more to this world than our culture, and there are a lot of things that go on out there that's fascinating."
