John Enos thought that returning to the audition circuit after two-and-a-half years as Bobby Marsino on Y&R would be a daunting task. But, the hunk, who'd previously enjoyed a career in primetime and film, soon discovered that his fears were unfounded. He has already landed two movies and a Comedy Central pilot! "I was kinda lucky," he confirms.
The Wise Guy
In Made In Brooklyn, a Mob-themed flick consisting of four separate stories filmed throughout the New York borough, Enos stars as a former hit man who's been placed into the Witness Protection Program. "He'd been involved previously in 'waste management' and learns that his new job in witness protection will also be in waste management, but it's more along the lines of delivering Porta Potties," Enos explains. "So it's everything that could go wrong and it's just a matter of him testing his patience and fighting the urge to go back to his old ways." The movie, which features an all-star cast, is the directorial debut of THE SOPRANOS' Sharon Angela (Rosalie).
Next up for the performer was a starring role in the romantic comedy Everyone Wants To Be Italian. "Me and another guy work in a fish market with the store owner's son who's obsessed with a married woman," the actor explains of the story set in his own hometown of Boston. "We try to get him to go to this Italian function, but he's Polish, so we tell him to pretend to be Italian so he can meet this nice girl that we'd met previously in an alley. However, through her circumstances, she's also pretending to be Italian. Basically, we're playing cupid, but he just can't let go of the married woman."
After seeing Enos play all of Bobby's dark drama, it might seem hard to imagine him doing such light-hearted fare, but the actor says that he's having a blast. "Actually, most of my roles this year have been in comedy. I even did a pilot called SPECIAL UNIT with Chris Titus for Comedy Central," Enos reveals of the project, which unfortunately didn't get the green light.
The Ladies' Man
In his personal life, fun-loving Enos is enjoying a new hobby. "I bought a camera and I've been taking classes with Macintosh and working on shooting and editing my own short films," he confides. Of course, one person who likely winds up on a lot of his reels is longtime lady love, Jennie, to whom he finally got hitched last July. Now that he's settled down, might he consider returning to the steady employment that daytime provides? "Yeah, I love the genre. There were wonderful people at Y&R, [but] I wouldn't mind going to another show, either. I'd be open to just about anything in daytime."
If the writers did bring Bobby back to Genoa City, Enos would love the opportunity to share another storyline wtih Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki). "The most fun I had was probably on the takes that were bad with Mel. We'd nearly pee our pants laughing or just be swearing incredibly," he recalls. "It was really fun working [together]; it just didn't last long enough."
