Sure, we know Joshua Morrow signed another contract with Y&R, but that doesn't lessen the emotional wallop when this week, we see that his chacter is not dead - just very close to it. "He's very banged up," sets up Morrow.
He's finally regained consciousness and he's really hurt. He's got head and leg injuries, so he's in a lot of pain. He's disoriented and pretty weak." So where is he? " He's in a cabin," previews Morrow.
Nick also notices he's not alone. A beautiful young woman is tending to him. "Her name is Logan," fills in headwriter LML. "She was on a camping trip and hiking way out in the wilderness when she found Nick. "There's more questions then answers at this point: Was Nick ever on board the doomed flight? If not how did he get to the place Logan found him? Just where is this cabin anyway?"
"She didn't see the wreck because the plane went down in Lake Michigan," teases Latham. "We aren't yet explaining what happened. We're not revealing if she is even near Lake Michigan now. This will be a mystery down the road; why the plane crashed and how Nick ended up where he did. But lucky for Nick, Logan is a doctor and could help him.
Nick has injuries that aren't that easy to treat when you're in the middle of nowhere. "Logan's cell phone battery is dead and her car is parked very far away. Nick's injuries are still life threatening and she knows if she leaves him, he would die. So she tries to make him better before going to get more help. Since Logan is educated in holistic meds, she's been treating an infection that Nick has with the bark of an indigenous tree. "It seems to be working because he becomes stronger and more lucid."
With supplies getting low, Nick condition takes a turn for the worst. When Logan leaves to get water, a delirious Nick stumbles out of the cabin and limps into the wilderness. That's when he encounters someone else on his trail.
"He sees Cassie and he's stunned, " Morrow says. "At first, he thinks she's there to guide him out." But the ghostly image is really bidding her father to come with her so they can be together.
Logan finds him before it's too late and they return to the cabin, but this time Logan ties Nick up so that he doesn't go off on his own again. Hopefully someone will come to their rescue. Nick is still not out of the woods yets
Meanwhile, Back in Genoa City...
As Nick struggles to stay alive, his wife, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) dreams that her husband has come home. "She sees that he's healthy and strong, but he tells her he's not," says Morrow. "He shows her his injuries. She wakes up and is really upset. She doesn't think that he's alive. She thinks he's haunting her." Surprisingly, Nick's former spouse, Sharon, doesn't seem to share any kind of emotional link with him. "I don't think Sharon even thinks that he could be alive," says her portrayer, Sharon Case. "I don't think in real life you wonder if someone's really alive after being in an accident like that. Her goal right now is to move on. When Nick was still alive, there was always that small bit of hope, 'Maybe we'll get back together,' but now that he's completely out of the picture, Sharon no longer has that. Him being dead really closes the door. You don't just let go of a 10-year marriage completely, but now she has to. She's committed to her marriage to Jack and has found a place for herself again."
