Like many primetime TVstars who make the journey to daytime, Nia Peeples, who's appearing as Nikki's campaign manager Karen on Y&R, has discovered just how many soap opera fans she has around her. "I was shocked to find out the number of people in my life that watch Y&R," Peeples happily shares. After she was cast on the popular CBS show, she says that a friend, who is the coach for the Olympic snowboard team in Sweden, was visiting southern California. "He went surfing with some guys in San Clemente and they asked him, 'How's Nia doing?' " recounts the stunner. "He said, 'Oh, she started on Y&R.' They all said, 'What? [We] love Y&R!' It was so great to hear that." Peeples' father, on the other hand, had a more wry reaction to his daughter joining the world of daytime. The actress chuckles, "He said, 'Oh, who [is your character] going to sleep with first?' "
