July 10, 2007 CBS Soaps In Depth
Good news, Y&R fans! Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla) says that it's possible that she will return to the soap one day! But when will that be?
When a body isn't found (and let's face it, even when it is!), soap fans continue to hold out hope that a beloved character will somehow be resurrected. Soaps In Depth recently caught up with Rowell, whose alter ego was presumed dead after falling off a cliff in April, to get her thoughts on Dru's exit and possible return.
Asked if she was glad that Y&R left the door open for a possible reprisal (since the "body" was never recovered), Rowell responded, "Glad? I'm not sure I'd use that word." The three-time Emmy-nominated actress opines, "I believe there is a lot to be desired in daytime in terms of diversification." Rowell wishes that executives, headwriters and other key daytime decision-makers would bring more racial diversity to their storytelling landscapes.
"I hope that if I return that those changes will be in place," she adds.
At press time, Rowell was still promoting her autobiography, The Women Who Raised Me, which is on The New York Times best-seller list and has received a five-star Amazon.com rating. "There's no question that my fan base of not only daytime but also primetime and film have come out to support me as an author as well," Rowell happily shares.
Next up, the actress plans to turn her book into a film. "I've already asked Kerry Washington (The Last King Of Scotland, Fantastic Four) to play the lead," Rowell reports.
When Will Rowell Return?
