They may not be on the front-burner, but these supporting players capture our interest enough to prove that the old adage is true: There are no small parts....
How have casting directors reacted to you being mixed race? "It is always about that. People have asked why I don't change my name, but that goes against what I'm about. I told Y&R that I didn't want them to do stereotypical or racist things. They've been very respectful about that."
Are you glad Ji Min finally has a love interest in Jill? "I've been wanting my character to have a love interest and Jess [Walton] is it for me. I've done love scenes before [in prime-time]. I've even kissed guys, so I'm used to it."
What made you decide to join a soap? "I liked the idea of having a chance to really explore a character, and I liked the way Lynn [Marie Latham, executive producer/head writer] approached me and my agents. I originally tested for Korbel, which Eyal Podell got, but she liked my audition enough to offer me this role."
On STARGATE SG-1, you played a Netan. Who or what was that? "He was a humanoid. He did things that were cool, like having a dinner party with his henchmen where he just gets up in the middle and shoots a guy."
You were also on CHARMED and 24. "Rose McGowan [ex-Paige, CHARMED] was stunning. I felt uncomfortable because she looked so good! I had a small role on 24, which they expanded, but I had a scheduling conflict. But Julian Sands [Bierko] was there for that episode, so I got to tell him how much I enjoyed A Room with a View."
What has been your most memorable acting job? "I did this awful show called CONAN, based on the movie. We filmed down in Mexico and I'd be riding horses with these cool Mexican cowboys. I remember one brought me this huge newspaper full of marijuana. I couldn't believe it! This is a job I'm remembering for all the wrong reason [laughs]."
