June 12, 2007 CBS Soaps In Depth Backstage Drama Rocks Soap! In Depth has learned that Edward Scott, who first joined Y&R in 1976, has been let go as the soap's supervising producer. A Y&R rep could not verify Scott's exit at press time, but did confirm that director Tony Morina is now a producer. During his award-winning run, Scott executed the vision of late headwriter William J. Bell, his successors Kay Alden and Jack Smith, and, most recently, current headwriter, Lynn Marie Latham. Married to Y&R's Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki), he exited as executive producer in 2001 when the show opted not to renew his contract and David Shaughnessy assumed the position. In early 2004, Scott returned as supervising producer, replacing the exiting Shaughnessy. Morina, the husband of former Y&R scribe Sally Sussman-Morina, has also directed GH and axed soaps PORT CHARLES, SUNSET BEACH, and SANTA BARBARA.
