This week finds Jack on the edge. "He tells Sharon that he has a lot to lose if Ji Min opens his mouth," says his portrayer, Peter Bergman. "There's his freedom, his reputation and his Senate seat. Not to mention the lawsuits and the possible collapse of Clear Springs. There's a lot at stake."
To that end, Jack comes up with a plan to convince Ji Min to stay quiet, which Sharon thinks may be going too far. Meanwhile, Amber suspects that Ji Min has the stolen loot. "She's determined to prove it so she can get off the hook with the law and possibly get in Katherine's good graces again," explains Executive Producer/Head Writer Lynn Marie Latham.
But Kay is worried about her own hide. "She stands to lose millions if it gets out that she knew Jack was the true owner of Jabot when she bought the company from him," notes Jeanne Cooper (Katherine). "As far as she's concerned, Jack and Ji Min are both scuzballs and she could care less what happens to them. But now this affects Katherine."
Kay is miffed with another player, too. "The biggest culprit in all of this is Victor Newman," huffs Cooper. "He knew before Kay knew that Jack owned Jabot and Victor is one of her oldest friends and he did nothing. So, she's ticked off."
To head off catastrophe, Kay asks her grandson Cane to persuade his mother to cancel the press conference. Cane agrees to give it a try and heads over to Ji Min's suite at the Genoa City Athletic Club. But Amber shows up outside Ji Min's door first because she wants to search his room for the money. "Before she can try the door, Amber sees Cane coming up the stairs," says Latham. "She ducks before he can see her."
From her hiding place, Amber watches as Cane knocks on the door and is let in by Jill. "Cane tries to talk his mom out of the interview," explains his portrayer, Daniel Goddard. "But she's adamant about it, so Cane says to her, 'If Ji Min hurts you, I will make sure he suffers.' "
Cane crosses paths with Ji Min downstairs in the dining room. "Ji Min says he is only doing this for Jill and tries to leave," says Goddard. "Cane grabs his arm and Ji Min threatens to have him arrested for assault. Cane lets him go but says, 'This isn't over.' "
Jill shows up at the conference room and greets the camera crew and press. Meanwhile, Amber thinks it's finally safe to investigate Ji Min's room. "She starts to pick the lock," smiles Latham.
Downstairs, everyone is waiting for the interview subject to show up. "Jill apologizes for the delay," says Jess Walton (Jill). "She calls Ji Min's cell and leaves him a message to call her."
Finally, Jill runs up to Ji Min's room and gets the shock of her life when she finds Amber already inside--standing over Ji Min's seemingly lifeless body. "Jill freaks out," sighs Walton. "She gets down on the floor and tries to give him mouth-to-mouth, but it's no use."
A panicked Amber calls Michael, but by the time he arrives at the GCAC, the cops and the paramedics as well as nosy Heather are in Ji Min's room with Jill. Soon Cane and Katherine hear about what happened and rush to a sobbing Jill. "Kay says that as much as she didn't like Ji Min, she never wanted to see her daughter hurting like this," says Cooper.
Amber explains to the authorities that she was visiting Ji Min because she thought he had the missing money. When his body is taken out, Jill collapses. "It's just too much for her to bear," says Walton. "She really did love this man and thought they would have a future together."
News of Ji Min's demise begins to spread and Nikki, David, Victor and Jack learn the shocking news. "Jack and Sharon go to Jill to offer their condolences, which just infuriates her," explains Bergman. "She tells him that she knows he hated Ji Min."
Later, Maggie reveals to Jill and Cane that it appears Ji Min died by suffocating from a crushed larynx, which could have happened due to a fall. However, Maggie announces that there will be a full investigation. Says Latham, "Everyone's not in the clear just yet."

Last week, Jill asked Ji Min to publicly out Jack for illegally owning Jabot. Ji Min agreed and an interview with a TV news program was set up. Jack was alarmed, as was Katherine, since she bought Jabot to save Jack from prosecution (not to mention the bargain basement price). Nikki is riled, too, since Ji Min's confession could unravel her beloved Clear Springs development, thanks to Jack's connection to the project. On top of that, it turns out Ji Min is in possession of the missing money for which Daniel, Amber and Kevin are in hot water. Looks like the House Of Kim is about to collapse.
