September 11, 2007 Soap Opera Weekly Hit: Disorder In Y&R's Court by DB You can count on Y&R's Phyllis to court trouble, but it was a welcome (and unexpected) move for her to sit quietly and take her punishment. It was no surprise when Genoa City's costume queen donned a wig and was a no-show in court. Best pal Michael put his law career on the line and lied in order to buy Phyllis time to do the right thing. Which she did--with three minutes to spare. In a fantastic twist, she arrived in court to face the music with no fanfare. She quietly confessed that she could not take Summer away from Nick or leave her son behind, even if that meant prison for her. But the game wasn't over. The jury lost its verdict when a juror changed her mind, so Phyllis opted to take her chances by letting the panel deliberate again. She lost. At the word "Guilty," Phyllis' face went blank, numbed by the thought of leaving her baby daughter. Improbably freed on bail, she went to Newman and bravely laughed at Brad's imploding life, still drowning in her own mistakes. It wasn't until she was alone with Nick that she reached out for help. Master schemer Phyllis didn't know what to do next? Now, that was a shocking verdict!
