In the old days, we often joked that Y&R's fantastic score had the ability to leave us convinced that something amazing must be happening on screen even if all we saw were two people quietly chatting about something mundane. Well, those days are gone. Y&R has now replaced its beautiful themes (still available on CD, by the way) with a never-ending stream of vaguely rockish tunes which all too often drown out the dialogue and add absolutely nothing to the unfolding scenes. Few things make us feel older than wanting to scream at the screen, "Turn that racket down!" But it's how we feel.
