As Cane Ashby, Daniel Goddard has spiced up The Young and the Restless with his character's storylines surrounding his true identity and his whirlwind relationship with Amber (Adrienne Frantz), who has lied and manipulated him in so many ways. But as the long-running soap tramples onto the coming episodes, fans will get to see a different side of Cane as he gets caught up in a middle of a possible love triangle.
After learning about Amber's deceit, Cane rejected her but has found hope in the form of Lily (Christel Khalil), who recently got divorced with Daniel (Michael Graziadei). Despite the chemistry and the budding of the relationship, Goddard says that his character isn't comfortable with their age difference.
"I think Lily is the anti-Amber,” the Young and the Restless actor said. “I think originally, they wanted to flirt to make their exes jealous but in the moment there were genuine feelings they explored. For Cane, watching Lily go through everything with Daniel and to see that she supported him along the way, giving him chance after chance to see help along the way.”
“I think Lily was incredibly patient with him. Cane admires that she is so trusting and loyal. The big problem is the age difference and time will tell if they can get past that. I think if she can grow from her relationship with Cane and, in turn, Cane can experience some of her trust and loyalty which he needs, it might work," he added.
Meanwhile, Cane is also exploring his options with attorney Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom), who is attractive, single and cmeany to his age. Cane has already begun his flirtation with Heather, which appears to be a mutual attraction.
When asked if Cane is already falling for Heather, Goddard reveals, “I think it will come down to what Cane needs. There is the uncomplicated world of Lily where he can be the knight in shining armor. Then there is Heather, who is smart and a go-getter and they share a similar energy. Cane and Lily could be very romantic where Cane and Heather would be more 'over the couch, across the room and into the driveway' like he was with Amber. It will be interesting to see where Cane ends up with Lily or Heather."
