Penn Badgley was a member of The Young and the Restless cast from 2000 -2001 playing the role of Phillip Chancellor IV, the son of Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) and Phillip Chancellor III (Thomas Bierdz).
Penn's star has just taken off recently with his starring role in the successful "Gossip Girl" television series, but his talent was always in evidence. Back in 2001 when he was a part of the The Young and the Restless, he was nominated for a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Daytime Series for his work in the role of Philip Chancellor IV.
After daytime, Penn's career took a strange turn when he landed starring roles in no less than three television series that were cancelled after one season, "Do Over" (2002), "The Mountain" (2004), and "The Bedford Diaries" (2006). But it doesn't appear as if "Gossip Girl" is headed for the same fate. The series is wildly popular and its young stars are rapidly becoming household names!
Not surprisingly, the very handsome actor is a fan of surfing, skiing, snowboarding, and also writes and plays guitar. There are whispers that he is equally as talented a musician as an actor, and that Penn Badgley fans may be treated to musical offerings in the future as well.
The former Y&R actor has also had the opportunity to delve into film work. He had a great role in the successful teen movie, "John Tucker Must Die", which starred former Passions hunk, Jesse Metcalfe (ex-Miguel), and is awaiting the release of "Forever Strong", a rugby-themed drama in which he plays a character named Lars. Additionally, production is set to begin in the spring on "Stepfather", a horror movie that will see Penn in the lead role!
Although there is a legion of daytime fans that would love to see such a handsome and talented actor return to soaps, it looks like prime time and the big screen have him for now!
