After leaving Y&R in 2001 (Susan Walters took over the role shortly after), Alex Donnelley found new life as a writer. "Once I left the show, I really needed a break," she shares. "I went to Fiji, Mexico and Europe a few times. Then when I got back, a friend asked me to write a column for her for Distinction magazine, which was put out by the Los Angeles Times. I did that for about a year-and-a-half. I had great fun until the magazine was put to rest."
Donnelley then decided to return to acting. "I did some commercials, and recently did an episode of ENTOURAGE. I worked with Jeremy Piven [Ari]. It was a small role, but I'm hoping I'll come back."
Meantime, she's still friendly with many of her former Y&R co-stars. "I just had dinner with Jeanne Cooper [Katherine]," she says. "She'll fill me in on what's going on and what's changed. It seems like everyone's gone! I also see Eric Braeden [Victor] at the gym, which is kind of like seeing an ex-husband who you have a good relationship with [laughs]. And I don't see Christian Le Blanc [Michael] nearly enough."
Donnelley still watches Y&R regularly, though she observes, "The show has changed so much, it has a completely different feeling. It's so fast now."
Would she return to Y&R? "I had a great time and nothing but good memories," she praises. "I'd come back in a second."
